Why we created My Coloring Pages

A feeling that many, if not most, young moms can relate to: inevitably losing oneself.

Amidst the mayhem of moving to a different country with a 6-month-old, a 4-year-old, and a husband with very little time outside of work hours, I naturally became solely defined by my roles as a wife and mom. Days blurred into one another: unpacking, errands, settling in, extracurriculars, school runs, making new friends, laundry, endless chores.

It took several months of heartwrenching tears, self-doubt, and moments of feeling invisible, to allow ourselves to fit into this new neighborhood, this new home, new school, and new norm. Ironically enough, this country where both my husband and I grew up, and where all our family lived, no longer felt like home. A lot had changed here, and while being away for six years, so had we. It took us well over a year to finally feel at ease with this newfound lifestyle.

I felt this feeling grasping my mind and soul through every day. Will I ever find ME again? How can I nourish MY soul and feel that sense of contentment of doing something for ME and the greater good? Can I feasibly find a way to work again without sacrificing the time I pour into motherhood? Time and time again, the answer seemed no. I contemplated various business ideas, none of which felt right or feasible. And yet, fate had something else in store for me. This exact part of me, being a mom, is what inspired me.

As someone who always had a spark for creativity, be it hobbies, projects, or personal accomplishments, I knew I needed to bring that part of me back into my life. One day, my brothers approached me for insight as a mom, and moreover, a peek into what my daughter would want to see in her creative world as a lover of all things coloring. It was a simple idea, but it ignited a spark. A spark that would grow into a dream.

And so it began, the endless brainstorming sessions, the debates over which features to include, the conceptualizing late into the night. The excitement took over all of us, as our 6-year-old catalyst validated our ideas with every delighted reaction. Our mission became clear: bring the classics back to the forefront. Bring the joy of good old-school coloring into the homes of young families. Spark imagination. Encourage creativity. And above all, create a space where families can connect, laugh, and create together–coloring pages and books with their very own stories.

Now we reached a point where it became OUR dream come true, as mom and daughter duo, along with my brothers hand-in-hand. We all added unique value, my brothers brought their technical expertise, I brought my creative element and insight as a mom, and my daughter brought her ever-so resourceful imagination and children's expertise. We couldn't believe our eyes as we were able to create pages and books with our very own family images, our very own story line, personalized to perfection. Safe to say, she is in love with My Coloring Pages! We have now carried over from search engines to solely our very own tool to print the perfect coloring page anywhere we go. Tradition now has it, after every family occasion, she has one of us load up My Coloring Pages to upload a picture of her liking, creating a memorabilia coloring page to reminisce and relive the wonderful memories.

We spent months after our launch to tweak this into being the perfect product for parents and families worldwide! We stumbled upon any and every issue you can imagine. We painstakingly tackled the bugs, tweaks, and modifications head on. Quite comical in retrospect, some of the issues we ran into. Thankful, and so very grateful for the end result! We are so proud that our product can recognize landmarks and monuments worldwide. It can recognize foods of different ethnicities. It can deliver anything you imagine, from anywhere, immaculately!
